“The Ascension”, by Kevin Pawlowski, is a watercolor painting over an antique etching by Gustave Doré. The painting is a beautiful and dramatic rendering of Jesus ascending into heaven, 40 days after he rose from the dead. Jesus has a golden glow, which shines down on the apostles. Look closely, and you can see a rainbow refraction around Jesus.
The etching was removed from an antique book, and watercolor was applied over the image. Colors have been enhanced digitally for the best display fidelity. Canvas reproductions are stretched over a 3/4" frame and have a black edge, which looks great hung with or without a frame.
