About St. Padre Pio:

Padre Pio, born Francesco Forgione on May 25, 1887, in Pietrelcina, Italy, was a Capuchin friar and mystic who gained widespread recognition for his piety, humility, and reputed supernatural abilities. Ordained as a priest in 1910, Padre Pio was known for his devotion to prayer and his deep connection to the divine. He is particularly renowned for bearing the stigmata, the wounds of Christ, on his hands, feet, and side—a phenomenon that persisted for 50 years until his death in 1968.

Padre Pio's life was marked by a tireless commitment to serving others and offering spiritual guidance. Thousands of people sought his counsel, and many reported miraculous healings and other supernatural experiences in his presence. Despite facing skepticism and scrutiny from some Church officials, Padre Pio's popularity grew, and he eventually became one of the most beloved and venerated saints in the Catholic Church. In 2002, he was canonized by Pope John Paul II, further solidifying his status as a revered figure in Christian history.
